Analytics retention

How long Shrtly keeps your click history, and what happens to older data.

Every plan keeps detailed click history for a set period, called its retention. The longer plans keep more history and unlock longer time periods on your charts. Current retention for each plan is in the comparison table on the pricing page.

What you'll see

The time period buttons on the dashboard and on each link and QR code offer 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 6 months and 1 year. Periods longer than your plan's retention show a lock icon and can't be selected. Upgrading your plan unlocks them.

What gets removed

A daily clean-up removes click records older than your plan's retention. That means:

  • Charts and breakdowns (clicks over time, devices, browsers, countries and referrers) only cover the history your plan keeps.
  • The Total clicks (all time) and Total scans (all time) counters are running totals. They don't go down when old detail is removed.

If you change plan

  • Upgrading lets you look back further from then on, but it can't restore history that was already removed.
  • Downgrading or cancelling means the shorter retention applies going forward, so older detail is removed by the next daily clean-up.

Tip: Need to keep long-term reports? Export what you need from your charts before a downgrade.
